November 08, 2007INDIANAPOLIS, IND., November 7, 2007 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team had two players named to the all-Great Lakes Valley Conference team, as voted on by league coaches, including senior middle hitter Christy Trame (Highland, Ill./Highland), who was awarded first team accolades.
Senior opposite hitter Claudia Medina (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) was named to the league’s third team.
Trame leads the Tritons with 4.33 kills per game, which also ranks third in the GLVC. She has recorded 20 or more kills in seven different matches this season, including two 30-kill matches. She has also reached double figures in kills in 28 of 30 matches played.
Trame has also been a defensive force at the net for UMSL this season, averaging a team-best 1.22 blocks per game. That number ranks fifth in the GLVC.
Medina is averaging 2.54 kills and 3.18 digs per game this season. In addition, she has recorded a team-best 39 service aces for an average of 0.40, which ranks her seventh in the GLVC.
UMSL is currently 14-18 on the season and finished the league campaign with a 10-8 mark to finish third in the GLVC West standings. The Tritons qualified for the conference tournament for the second straight year and will be in action on Friday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. (CST), when they face Lewis. The GLVC Tournament is being hosted by Indianapolis.
