Baseball Looses Early Lead, Drops Pair at S&T

ROLLA, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team saw a 4-0 lead evaporate as Missouri S&T rallied for a 6-4 victory in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Tritons also lost the nightcap, 5-4.

UMSL falls to 17-27 on the season and 11-17 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T improves its ledger to 21-23 and 14-14 in the league.

In the first game, the Tritons scored twice in the first and fourth innings for a 4-0 advantage before the Miners came storming back. Missouri S&T scored five runs on five hits during the fourth and fifth innings to take a 5-4 lead it would not relinquish. The Miners added another run in the sixth inning for the final score.

Junior Ryan Gray went 2-for-3 at the plate for UMSL and also recorded a pair of RBIs.

Senior Brady Decker took the loss, allowing three earned runs on nine hits in five innings.

Senior Kyle Hargis paced the Tritons offensively in the second game loss with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, while Gray went 2-for-4. Senior Mark Sanders also went 2-for-4.

Senior Eric Kuntz took the loss, lasting four and one third innings. He allowed four runs on four hits and walked five, while striking out three.

UMSL returns to action tomorrow, hosting Indianapolis at 7 p.m. in the start of a four-game series that will close out the regular season.
