September 03, 2008SUNRISE BEACH, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team opened its 2008 fall campaign with an 11th place finish at the Missouri Intercollegiate at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo., Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Tritons fired rounds of 324 and 312 for a total of 636 on the 72-par, 7,036-yard course. Central Missouri won the team title, shooting seven strokes over. 15 teams competed in the tournament.
Tim Cochran paced UMSL, tying for eighth place individually. Cochran shot rounds of 76 and 71 for a 147 total. Central Missouri’s Justin Yoder and Truman State’s Michael Spaulding shared medalist honors, finishing four strokes under par.
Matt Winslow (76-86 162) and Tim Swoboda (85-77 162) tied for 46th place, while Ryan Penfield (87-81 168) tied for 58th. J.R. Siracusa (90-83 173) tied for 66th place to round out the Tritons’ scoring.
UMSL returns to action Sept. 20-22 at the Great Lakes Fall Regional.
