71 Student-Athletes Named to Academic All-GLVC Team

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference has released its list of Academic All-Conference selections for the 2007-08 academic year, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis had 71 student-athletes receive recognition for their academic accomplishments. The 71 honorees is the highest ever for the UMSL Athletic Department since joining the GLVC in the 1996-97 academic year, surpassing last year’s previous high of 59 student-athletes.

Each of UMSL’s 11 sports was represented on the list with the UMSL baseball team having the most on the list with 15, while the women’s tennis team had the highest percentage of student-athletes with six of their seven players earning this honor.

There were a total of 43 student-athletes who were repeat recipients for this award, having been named at least once before during their career, including seniors Ryan Burgdorfer (men’s tennis), Scott Lavelock (baseball), Amanda Miller (women’s basketball), Heather Nichols (volleyball) and Courtney Watts (women’s basketball), who earned academic all-conference honors in each of their four years at UMSL.
