Men's Tennis Falls to Drury, 6-0, in NCAA Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s tennis team ended its season with a 6-0 loss to No. 4 ranked Drury in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

The Tritons, who were making their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history, end the season at 15-7. Drury improves to 22-2 and faces the winner of the Grand Valley State and Wayne State match tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. for a berth in the Sweet 16 in Houston, Texas next week.

Drury swept the doubles action to take an early 3-0 lead. Boris Simic and Daniel Anthony lost an 8-4 decision at the No. 1 position, while Ryan Burgdorfer and Peter Hantack dropped an 8-6 decision at No. 2. Alexander Cherman and Andre Chemas lost an 8-3 decision at the No. 3 position.

The Panthers then picked up three wins in singles play for the victory. Federico Levi earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Anthony at No. 2, while A. Garcia Santos was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Cherman at No.5. Nikola Prpic won a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Tim Bryant.
